Miami is a global city in the southeastern part of Florida in the United States. As of 2007, the city ranked the 4th largest urbanized area in the US. It also has one of the tallest skylines in the country behind New York and Chicago. The city is also expected to see a building boom starting 2008. The city has been nicknamed "The Magic City" and in 2008 Forbes Magazine named it America's Cleanest City. They also named the city as the 3rd Richest City in the US.

The city is ranked 'Global City' because of its importance when it comes to media, arts, entertainment, finance, international trade and commerce. It is known to have the largest concentration of international banks in the US. The city is also home to many television studios and company headquarters. Miami's ports are known for their accommodation of a large volume of cruise liners and a majority of those has their headquarters in Miami.

Entertainment is one of Miami's most popular attractions. The city has one of the liveliest club and music scenes with influences that range from Latin to Central American. When it comes to sports, the city is home to major sports teams including the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Heat and the Florida Marlins.
