Apart from New York, Chicago has one of the richest theater scenes in the US with many of its successful plays going on to show in Broadway.

The city is also a politically active city and is considered the stronghold of the American Democratic Party. The United State's first African-American president, Barack Obama, hails from Chicago. Other nicknames given to Chicago include "City of Broad Shoulders", "Second City" and "Chi-Town".
